Phew! We are out of attorney review, so we are feeling pretty confident now. So confident that we started our search for a house last week (the day after we signed the contracts) and after looking at at a bunch of duds (it was depressing), and one other viable option in 4 towns, we already found a house, put an offer in, squabled over price a bit and are on our way to attorney review for this little gem in the same town my brother lives in (that was my lame attempt at not including the actual name of the town, since we're attempting to be more discreet bloggers over here).
The short of the matter is the house is small, of course, but it has every single thing on our we-absolutely-need-this in a house list, plus a bunch of the things we wanted but didn't think we'd be getting. It's a 3 bedroom ranch with a finished basement that not only has an office for Harland, it also has an unofficial 4th bedroom and new full bath down there (and a family room). And yes, Adi, the extra room for you to stay in definitely had at least a little to do with why we chose this house. So you better visit us, or the guilt will be piled on really thick.
The bonuses that we got were that the house is on an acre, and has been completely updated. 2 new bathrooms, the kitchen, the hardwood floors, the basement being done already, the windows and siding, blah blah blah are all recent. It's exciting. Here's some of the pictures off the listing...

This is not the house's good side. It looked much nicer in person... (There's a detached garage in back...not sure why they put it behind the house instead of off to the side, but hey! It exists!)
The living room that we're unfortunately going to have to paint so it won't clash with our less-than-loved couches...
The main bathroom...(It has a tub and separate shower in it...nice!). My dream kitchen would have cabinets like those in it. With a wood floor stained blue. Don't laugh! I've actually seen it and it's gorgeous...
The deck off the kitchen (that's part of the detached garage on the left)...
I'm not sure who thought grey laminant counters were a good idea, but it's new, so I'm only complaining a little...Harland is psyched that there's a gas stove. Most of what we looked at had electric. A gas stove was one of those "wants" we didn't think we were getting...
Here's your bathroom, Adi. Sorry, there's no pics of the basement other than this in the listing...you'll have to wait until later for that...
So, obviously we're pretty excited to finally have windows on all four sides of our house and a non-shared driveway. And of course the room downstairs will not be available soley to Adi!Oh...and sorry Aunt Judy. We never even made it to your town to look! We had an appointment all set up to go, I swear!

good luck! I did drive by the house the other day and it does look nice, set back on the lot a bit! Save some money for the John Deere!!!!
Yup, now Amy gets to ride a mower for free, yippee.
This looks great, the front will look fab in the Spring.
When do we get to come visit and make it messy?
That looks great! I love the hardwood floors and please- do not repaint the living room. The two tones and the chair rails are really nice...
PS: talk to your realtor about the flat screen TV. I know UT law is that if it is mounted is legally part of the house- thus it has to stay.
Yeah, not looking forward to mowing all that lawn. It's all lawn in the back too...
We're supposed to close May 30th (happy birthday to me!). So you can come make it messy while you help us move in! LOL...
Critch...I like the paint too, but do you remember what our couches look like? Black/grey & White, well, off white... So unless we're going for a zebra in Africa look, we might have to paint. Or maybe we'll just hope we get a good rebate from the government around then to buy ourselves something that goes...
Cool. I like the new house, I'm sure you'll love the extra space!!
looking forward to parties on that deck!! don't worry I'll bring my own beverages!
